LOCAL SCHOOLS

  BA Hurricanes Dragonboat Team, based in Wraysbury have been working with Slough Borough Council and The Youth Opportunities Fund to provide local young people with a chance to have a go at Dragon Boating.

30 local children have already started training sessions which have been testing and pushing their strength & fitness to ensure they are ready for the ultimate test on Saturday 24th March when they will be taking part in a race day at the BA Sailing Club in Wraysbury.

The Mayor of Slough will be attending to present the medals & trophy and it is hoped that this will be the start of a new activity for Slough Schools with a summer SCHOOL V SCHOOL event already being discussed.

Dragonboat racing has a long history starting with the ancient legend of Qu Yuan, for more on the history take a look at www.ba-hurricanes.org. It is fast becoming a popular sport with all ages, there are many Dragonboat clubs up and down the country which welcome new members, to take part in regular training sessions and competitive races.
